Introduction to SEEP

The Small Enterprise Education and Promotion (SEEP) Network is the international network of practitioners engaged in all technical facets of microenterprise development. Its 74 institutional members are active in 139 countries and reach over 25 million microentrepreneurs and their families. SEEP’s mission is to connect these practitioners in a global learning environment so that they may reduce poverty through the power of enterprise. Since 1985, SEEP has demonstrated the transformative power of networks by providing a space for key stakeholders to learn from each other.
The SEEP Network is a leader in the development of the international microfinance and enterprise development fields through its contributions to the documentation of best practice, its capacity to convene key stakeholders, and through its well-regarded methodology for peer learning, which offers a platform for inclusive and productive dialogue. As a learning organization, SEEP employs the building blocks of systematic problem solving, experimentation, learning from past experience, learning from others, and transferring knowledge to accomplish its work and fulfill its mission. More specifically, SEEP provides training, publications, professional development, and technical assistance throughout the industry.
