With so many commercial banks playing the role of donor in the development of national microfinance industries, I’m curious if there are any examples of microfinance networks, or even institutions, partnering up with banks for technical assistance, particularly in the area of product innovation?

ONLY IF OUR REGULATORY AUTHORITIES WILL
Commercial banking in the african context is still being seen as a baby still learning to walk.only recently when some african banks are trying to measure with other banks across the globe, example of such countries are nigeria, south africa, with heavy industrial and financial base, harbours forex and trade funds dat expand theeir balance sheets, meanwhile in context of microfinace here is where u see a commercial bank competing with an MFI deposit meant for their aims and objective.
here is where the regulatory authories comes in to indicate clear span of control for each organisations.there is still conflict in duties between the two.
