ADA Discussion Paper: "Does foreign ownership in microfinance interfere with local development?"

We are pleased to send you the first issue of our new ADA “Discussion Paper” series. As suggested by the title, this innovative and interactive new publication aims to serve as a basis for discussion and is designed to spark a debate among microfinance professionals.
In our first ADA Discussion Paper “Does foreign ownership in microfinance interfere with local development?” we attempt to identify a trend towards greater foreign ownership in microfinance in the hope of provoking a debate on the impact of such a trend on the microfinance sector and on MFIs more specifically. For this purpose, an email debate, mediated by Sophie Wiesner, Project Officer at ADA, will take place on the following dates:
9th, 10th and 11th March 2010
16th, 17th and 18th March 2010
